SMFCL’s role is to finance port modernisation, port connectivity through road and rail, port-led industrialisation, coastal community development, inland waterways, port-hinterland connectivity and other related maritime infrastructure projects.
Beyond conventional financing, the Corporation supports port-linked industrialisation by enabling coastal economic zones, multimodal logistics hubs, greenfield ports and transshipment infrastructure, and by facilitating integration between ports and hinterland connectivity networks — rail, road and inland waterways.
Aligned with the Sagarmala Programme, SMFCL addresses access to timely, tailored and long-term financing, contributing to port capacity, cargo-handling efficiency and lower logistics costs across India’s coastline.
